Olive Local

Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 1, 2026

This policy describes what information we collect when you use Olive Local, how we use it, and your choices. We keep it straightforward — if something isn’t clear, reach out at hello@olivelocal.com.

What we collect

Information you give us

When you create an account, claim a listing, or subscribe to a plan, you provide things like your name, email, business details (name, address, phone, hours, photos), and payment information. Payments are processed securely through Stripe — we never see or store your card number. If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address.

Information we collect automatically

When you visit the site, we collect basic technical data: your browser and device type, IP address, approximate location, pages visited, and referring URL. This helps us understand how people use Olive Local and where we can improve.

Information from third parties

We use Google Places data (business names, addresses, hours, ratings, photos) to populate directory listings. If you sign in through a third-party provider, we receive basic authentication data from them.

How we use it

We use your information to run the platform: creating and displaying business listings, managing accounts, processing payments, and generating content for your business. We also use it to send service-related messages (billing notices, account updates) and, if you’ve opted in, occasional marketing emails like launch updates and local business news. We analyze aggregated usage data to improve the product and use it as needed to prevent fraud and enforce our Terms of Service.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data in a few limited situations:

Service providers. We work with third parties for payment processing (Stripe), hosting, and analytics. They only access the data they need to do their job.

Public listings. Business information — name, address, hours, phone, description, photos — is displayed publicly on the directory. That’s the core function of the platform.

Legal obligations. We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Olive Local or others.

Business transfers. If Olive Local is acquired or merged with another company, your information may transfer as part of that transaction.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use the site. You can manage cookies in your browser settings — turning them off may affect some functionality (like staying logged in).

Data retention

We keep your personal information as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we’re legally required to retain it. Public business listing data may remain in the directory after account deletion.

Your rights (CCPA)

If you’re a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion of your data, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We don’t sell personal information, but you can still exercise any of these rights by contacting us. We won’t treat you differently for doing so. We’ll respond within 45 days as required by law.

Security

We protect your information with encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and limited access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to keep your data safe.

Olive Local is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy as our product evolves. When we make material changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the platform after a change means you accept the updated policy.
